Council tax application for a single person discount


You are entitled to a 25% single person discount if you live alone or are the only adult over 18 who lives in the property.

You are not classed as living alone if you have children over the age of 18 living with you.

Holding and Sharing of Information

Your personal information will be held and used in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998. This authority is under a duty to protect all of the public funds it administers.

It may share information provided to it, including Council Tax discounts and benefits, both internally and externally, with other public sector bodies, for the prevention and detection of fraud, as guided by the provisions of the Data Protection Act.

This Authority participates in the National Fraud Initiative. This is a government backed bi-annual initiative which matches data from a range of public bodies (and, in the future may include private sector bodies), to prevent and detect fraud. This initiative provides valuable information which ensures that public resources are safeguarded. This Authority is required by law to provide this information.
